Horace Mann Issues Apology Letter for Alleged Sex Abuse

It's a start, but a lot more could be done. Administrators at Horace Mann, the elite New York City private school that has been at the center of decades of sexual-abuse allegations, posted an apology letter to the school's site on Friday. In addition to acknowledging "unconscionable betrayals of trust" and praising survivors who have come forward, the letter also talks of establishing an "advisory board on student safety" and getting rid of the board position of trustee emeritus. This last move is widely seen as aiming to eliminate board members who knew of abuse in the past and did nothing to stop it. The one thing the letter doesn't mention? Launching an actual investigation.
