House GOP Snubs Payroll Tax Bill

Just when you thought Congress was on the right track, they threaten to undo everything. House Republicans are considering rejecting the two-month extension to the payroll tax cut that the Senate passed Saturday, arguing that it would give the Democrats the upper hand in February negotiations. During an appearance on Meet the Press, John Boehner said that House Republicans are against the measure and it would cause uncertainty in the economy. "If you talk to employers, they talk about uncertainty," he said. "How can you do tax policy for two months? So, we really do believe it's time for the Senate to work with the House, to complete our business for the year. We've got two weeks to get this done. Let's do it the right way."
