Calgary native John Ridsdel has been killed by Islamic militants after being held hostage in the Philippines for months, according to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Ridsdel was one of four hostages—another one of whom is Canadian—held by Abu Sayyaf militants, who had issued a deadline for ransom that pased on Monday morning. There's no immediate information about the other three individuals being held hostage.
