Talk about tabloid justice. A former News of the World reporter who has since been arrested in connection with the phone-hacking scandal is threatening to break his silence when he testifies in his wrongful termination lawsuit. Neville Thurlbeck, 49, was the chief reporter for the now-defunct tabloid, and he was one of the first people to be arrested this year in the renewed investigation of the paper’s phone-hacking practice, which has mushroomed into a scandal that has threatened Rupert Murdoch’s media empire and some of the most powerful in Britain. He is suing News International, Britain’s arm of Murdoch’s News Corp. empire, for wrongful termination. Thurlbeck remained on News International’s payroll until September, when he was fired and he has accused the company of unfairly dismissing him because he was a whistleblower.
