Texas Gov. Rick Perry said he doesn’t think the U.S. Marines who were caught urinating on dead Taliban fighters in Afghanistan should face criminal charges. In an interview on CNN’s State of the Union Sunday, the GOP presidential candidate, who’s coming up last almost everywhere, said the soldiers made a “dumb” mistake, but that the Obama administration overreacted and showed “disdain” for the military. “The idea that this administration would go after these young people for a criminal act, I think it is over the top,” he said. But even Sen. John McCain—who, of course, is a war hero who was held prisoner by his foes for five years—said he has no problem with the administration’s handling of the controversy, saying “a full and complete investigation is entirely appropriate.” Discussion over.
