Johns Hopkins Hospital will pay a record $190 million to settle a creepy class-action suit against gynecologist Nikita Levy. Levy was discovered to have secretly videotaped his female patients, performed several unnecessary pelvic exams, and “engag[ed] in inappropriate physical contact.” Police found more than 1,200 video clips after being alerted by a female staff member, who noticed that Levy wore a pen camera around his neck. More than 12,500 potential victims have been identified. Levy was fired by the hospital on Feb. 8, 2013; he was found dead 10 days later, after he’d wrapped a plastic bag around his head and pumped it with helium. Levy had worked in the Johns Hopkins Community Medicine system since 1988.
