Thursday morning on Good Morning America, Robin Roberts bid a tearful goodbye to her colleagues as she left the show for an undetermined period of time in order to care for her ailing mother and then to receive treatment herself for the bone-marrow disorder MDS. Sadly, Roberts’s mother died hours after Roberts signed off GMA, though ABC News reports that she arrived at her family’s home in Mississippi in time to be with her as she passed. Lucimarian Roberts was 88.
