Serena Williams was fined $2,000 by the U.S. Open Monday for a series of outbursts against the chair umpire of her championship loss Sunday against Samantha Stosur. “You’re a hater, and you’re just unattractive inside,” Williams told umpire Eva Asderaki during the match in New York. “Really, don’t even look at me.” The string of comments came after Williams celebrated a shot by yelling “Come on!” But Asderaki ruled that the scream hindered Stosur’s return because she was reaching for a backhand and the point wasn’t finished. That set off Williams. The player was previously fined a record $82,500 for a profanity-laced outburst at a line judge in 2009’s U.S. Open.
