Syrian government forces shot and killed two people at a funeral Saturday for a 10-year-old boy who was killed in the midst of violence a day earlier. Passions were running high, witnesses said, and several of the mourners began throwing rocks at nearby security forces, who responded with deadly gunfire. The killings happened in an old, socially conservative quarter of Damascus, where the boy being mourned had lived. The area is notoriously hostile to President Bashar al-Assad, who announced Saturday that he would draft a new constitution within four mounths.
