Allowing the Republican establishment to save face, longtime Senator Thad Cochran squeaked out a primary runoff victory Tuesday night over Tea Party challenger Chris McDaniel. Cochran won with 51 percent of the vote, apparently thanks to high turnout among black Democratic voters. However, McDaniel is threatening litigation against the six-term senator, so this political brawl may not be over yet. All eyes were on Mississippi to see if the Tea Party and renegade groups could upset another powerful Republican after collecting the scalp of former House Majority Leader Eric Cantor.
