Donald Trump is now open to finding a “humane and efficient” solution to the undocumented immigrants who are currently in the United States illegally, according to what three sources told Buzzfeed on Saturday.
Trump expressed his willingness to work on the issue during a meeting with his Hispanic advisory council, also attended, according to Buzzfeed, by his new campaign manager, Kellyanne Conway, and campaign CEO, former Breitbart patriarch Steve Bannon.
The shift is a dramatic one for the Republican nominee, whose candidacy has been defined in large part by his hostility towards illegal immigrants from Mexico. He began his presidential campaign in June 2015 by branding those immigrants “rapists” and “criminals” and, in the ensuing months, has promised repeatedly to build a wall at the U.S.-Mexico border and force Mexico to foot the bill, despite the total lack of evidence that Mexico would ever agree to such a thing.
