The second auction of Yves Saint Laurent’s and Pierre Bergé's art and furniture was another blockbuster. The Christie's sale from November 17 to 20 raised $13.22 million, almost three times the anticipated amount. All proceeds from the auction, which had a 98 percent sell-through rate, will go to an AIDS research charity. Favorite items from the sale included a pair of 19th century armchairs and an umbrella holder. The couple had accumulated one of the world's biggest and most important private art collections, but Bergé decided to decommission after Saint Laurent's death last year.
