Twombly Creates Ceiling Work for the Louvre

Cy Twombly became the first artist since George Braque in the 1950s to create a work for a ceiling in the Louvre. The 4300-square-foot section is painted a deep blue with geometric circles and the names of ancient Greek sculptors. The color palate is a new one for the 81-year-old artist. ”I got into something new in old age,” he said.
