FTC Investigating App Store Ads

The Federal Trade Commission is responding to complaints from Google and Adobe about Apple’s App Store and its anti-competitive tactics. iPhones currently dominate mobile phones, with a 28-percent share of the market. The competition is calling foul, saying that famously user-friendly giant is not playing fair. A few weeks ago, Google acquired mobile advertising network AdMob, and two weeks later, Apple revised its iPhone developer agreement, which seems to block AdMob from vital analytics. "Artificial barriers to competition hurt users and developers and, in the long run, stall technological progress," says AdMob founder Omar Hamo. Apple CEO Steve Jobs says the changes were aimed at third party data collection in the wake of much-publicized security leaks.
