Despite its likely defeat in the Senate, the House GOP is forging ahead with its debt-ceiling legislation. Speaker Boehner, after some last-minute revisions to lure Tea Party hold-outs, will bring his proposal to a vote on Friday evening, party leadership has said. Boehner's plan would raise the debt ceiling in two installments, and new additions would also mandate a vote on a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution. President Obama, though, has vowed that the bill has "no chance of becoming law," and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has also promised to kill it. Last night, Boehner pulled a planned vote due to insufficient support.
