Jim Romenesko, one of the first news aggregators and a popular media blogger, resigned from his position at the Poynter Institute after editor Julie Moos publicly questioned his use of other people's writing. In a post on Poynter.org, Moos accused Romenesko using verbatim text in his summaries of articles and not marking them with quotes. Moos's post angered an array of journalists, many of whom would send emails to Romenesko asking him to summarize their stories and felt the accusation made no sense. Some also pointed out that Moos herself scooped a reporter with the Columbia Journalism Review, who had called asking questions about Romenesko's attributions, prompting her to post first.
