Adelson Is Against Influencing Elections

Sheldon Adelson has donated millions to Newt Gingrich’s presidential campaign and, according to an interview in Forbes, may be ready to donate a lot more. The billionaire told the magazine he is “against very wealthy people attempting to or influencing elections,” but that won’t stop him from contributing. “I have my own philosophy and I’m not ashamed of it. I gave the money because there is no other legal way to do it,” he said. “I don’t want to go through ten different corporations to hide my name. I’m proud of what I do and I’m not looking to escape recognition.”
