Ukraine’s parliament passed two bills allowing the eastern region of the country to have greater autonomy. It also voted to grant amnesty to those who joined the rebels and fought against the government. The legislation was approved as Ukraine struggles to maintain a shaky ceasefire that has been in place since Sept. 5, but has already seen multiple clashes and outbreaks of violence: Donetsk reported three people killed in clashes just last night. Ukraine’s parliament also passed legislation to ratify a trade deal with the European Union. It is the same deal that led to the rebellion to force out the previous president, Viktor Yanukovych.
