President-elect Donald Trump puts the U.S.’s relationship with the European Union in jeopardy, EU Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker said on Friday. He suggested that Trump is unaware of how Europe operates. “The election of Trump poses the risk of upsetting intercontinental relations in their foundation and in their structure,” Juncker said, adding: “We will need to teach the president-elect what Europe is and how it works.” Juncker’s response to the U.S. presidential election stands in contrast to those of other European leaders, including the U.K.’s Theresa May and Italy’s Matteo Renzi, who congratulated him on his victory.
