The Taliban has stoned to death a couple in northern Afghanistan that it says carried out an extramarital affair. The 23-year-old woman and 28-year-old man had their hands tied behind their backs and stood in an empty field as some 100 people gathered to watch and help carry out their sentence. It took place in a Taliban-controlled village in Kunduz province. Earlier this year, the Taliban killed a pregnant widow after accusing her of adultery.
