Gaddafi Son Captured in Sirte

Is the final countdown finally upon us? Muammar Gaddafi’s son Moatassim was reportedly detained Wednesday in Sirte. The head of the National Transitional Council announced that after a four-hour gunfight, Moatassim was captured. The new government says that 80 percent of the Gaddafi stronghold is under control. As thousands flee Sirte, the NTC hopes to declare victory within the week. While the news seems optimistic for the former rebels, there have been reports of capturing Sirte for the past month. Meanwhile, Gaddafi’s whereabouts are still unknown.
