Citing a new “era of relations” willed by the Iranian people, newly elected President Hassan Rouhani offered “greetings to the people of America who are very dear and near to the hearts of the Iranian people” in an interview with CNN. Rouhani also acknowledged the Holocaust, something his predecessor openly questioned. “Any crime that happens in history against humanity, including the crime the Nazis created towards the Jews, is reprehensible and condemnable," he said.
