MLB’s Ordóñez to Run for Mayor in Venezuela

Maybe Alex Rodriguez should think about politics. Magglio Ordóñez made a name for himself playing for the Chicago White Sox and the Detroit Tigers, but now the six-time All-Star is heading home to Venezuela to run for mayor of Puerto La Cruz, an oil town with 500,000 residents. Ordóñez will run as a member of the socialist party ticket, the same party of late president Hugo Chávez. Ordóñez, who played the outfield, hit 294 home runs throughout his 15-year career. He moved back to Venezuela in 2011 and publicly supported Chávez’s socialist agenda.
