National Security Council spokesman Michael Anton has announced he plans to leave the White House. Anton said Sunday that he will join Hillsdale College’s Kirby Center in Washington, D.C., as a “writer and lecturer.” In a statement, he said that he “will be forever grateful to President Trump for the opportunity to serve my country and implement his agenda.” Anton was brought on board by former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn, but spent much of his tenure working under H.R. McMaster—and reportedly “weathering McMaster’s testy relationship with the president.” His departure comes after McMaster’s last day at the White House, which was April 6, and before the arrival of the new National Security Adviser John Bolton, whose first day is Monday. Anton’s last day is expected to be in the coming weeks.
