The Syrian government has declared its cease-fire over, seven days after agreeing upon the terms. According to the Associated Press, the military blames rebel groups in the country for undermining the fragile agreement, which was brokered by the U.S. and Russia. In a statement, the military said “armed terrorist groups” violated the short-lived agreement, using the opportunity to arm themselves and to attack government-controlled areas. The rebels, the statement said, squandered their “real chance” to end the violence.
