Take a good, long look at those red carpet photos from this year’s Met Costume Institute Gala. Because next year—if there’s even still a carpet—there will likely be fewer stars walking on it. With 169 employees laid off from the Met last week, insiders say next year’s Vogue-run event will be a lot less boldfaced, as fashion houses won’t be able to buy tables and fly expensive dresses overseas.
