Want a sneak peek at your next vacation photos? After it was revealed that U.S. Marshals in Florida had saved 35,000 images from airport “body scanners,” Gizmodo obtained 100 of those photographs by FOIA request. In order to calm privacy fears over the scanners, which have been likened to a virtual strip search, officials said images could not be saved or transmitted, but the instance in Florida shows this is not the case. Fortunately, the 100 images obtained by Gizmodo have been cleaned of identifying details and are of low-resolution quality anyway. They were taken using the millimeter wave scanner; the back-scatter is higher-resolution and has been dubbed the “naked scanner.”
