Will Republicans forgive him for sleeping with the enemy? U.S. Ambassador to China Jon M. Huntsman, Jr., has notified the White House that he’ll be stepping down from his post, possibly in order to explore a GOP presidential bid. Huntsman, the former Republican governor of Utah, was once considered a top potential contender against Obama for 2012, but threw his supporters for a loop when he accepted the administration job. His moderate record may not sit well with conservatives, especially since he’s now worked for Obama, but at least now he can claim foreign-policy expertise.
