Sorry, he’s still around. Libyan leader Col. Muammar Gaddafi appeared on Libyan state TV Wednesday, ending nearly two weeks of speculation that he was killed in the airstrike that killed his son and three of grandchildren. Gaddafi, who has not appeared in public since the April 30 bombing of his compound, wore his trademark brown robe, dark sunglasses, and black hat. He appeared on the propaganda show al-Jamahirya TV. Reuters journalists based in the hotel where it is taped said some rooms had been sealed off for an event, but they had not seen Gaddafi. Meanwhile, rebels said they scored a major victory Wednesday by seizing large quantities of weapons in Misrata, and NATO bombed Gaddafi’s Tripoli compound again early Thursday morning.
