Hundreds of offshore oil workers in the Gulf of Mexico were evacuated Saturday after forecasters predicted a 90 percent chance of a tropical storm hitting the region. The storm is expected to be named Debby. It’s not clear exactly what path the storm will take yet, with some predictions placing it veering east and hitting northern Florida and others expecting it to swing toward the Alabama-Mississippi border or west over Texas or Mexico. Around 8 percent of all U.S. oil and gas production has been suspended.
