The body of former Grand Valley State quarterback Cullen Finnerty was found Tuesday night, bringing an end to a three-day search by local authorities and about 100 volunteers familiar with the college football player’s glory on the field. Finnerty’s family reported him missing Sunday after he failed to return from a fishing trip to their Michigan cabin. They last spoke to him Sunday, they said, during a frantic phone call he made to a family member, which led them to believe he might be “having some kind of a mental episode—that he was either afraid or something and ran off into the woods," according to the local sheriff. Authorities suspect no foul play. An autopsy is planned.
