Rhode Island Gov. Lincoln Chafee is reportedly looking to switch party affiliations and become a Democrat in advance of his 2014 reelection bid. Elected as an independent in 2010 in a three-way race, Chafee, a former Republican senator, has suffered from low approval ratings in the Ocean State. He will likely face a tough race against a handful of Democrats, including Angel Taveras, the mayor of Providence, and Gina Raimondo, the state treasurer.
