It was lovely day for a parade in New York and several other cities across the country. From New York to Chicago to Seattle, major cities erupted with displays of tolerance and love. This year's parades were made even sweeter by the Supreme Court’s ruling this week that threw out the Defense of Marriage Act. Edith Windsor, 84, whose lawsuit led to the granting of federal marriage benefits by the Supreme Court in the landmark case last week, was a grand marshal of New York's festivities. The parade in the Big Apple kicked off at noon on Fifth Avenue and concluded at Christopher Street, by the historic Stonewall Inn.
