The plane which crashed at San Francisco International Airport on Saturday was traveling "significantly" below the target landing speed when it hit the ground, according to National Transportation Safety Board Chairwoman Deborah Hersman. It was going 118 mph, instead of the ideal 158 mph, an initial review of flight data found. Apparently, crew members even attempted to abort the landing. On Sunday, the airline confirmed that the pilot on the doomed plane had only 43 hours of experience flying Boeing 777s and was in training for flying the aircraft, but the plane’s co-pilot, Lee Jeong-min, had “lots of experience with 777s.”
