Curtis Wade Holley was killed Sunday in Tallahassee during a standoff with police, a day after he gunned down Leon County Deputy Christopher L. Smith. Holley lured police by setting a home on fire Saturday and then ambushed officers. Smith, a 47-year-old father of two, was shot and killed by Holley with a .40 caliber handgun. The next day, 53-year-old Holley was killed in a 12-minute standoff with police after officer Scott Angulo shot him. There’s evidence that Holley was “anti-government, was anti-establishment, and had discussed at some point in time planning to harm law enforcement,” said Leon County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Lt. James McQuaig. Police said they believe Holley was aiming to kill as many officers as possible. “It was a 100 percent ambush. This guy had a plan and he put this plan into action.”
