President Barack Obama reportedly called Japan's Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to express regret over recent revelations that the U.S. had spied on top Japanese officials. A Japanese government spokesman confirmed Wednesday that Obama told Abe the allegations of spying was regrettable. Last month WikiLeaks published documents purporting to show five U.S. National Security Agency reports on Japanese positions on international trade and climate change between 2007 and 2009, as well as a list of 35 Japanese targets for wire-tapping.
