Ivanka Trump on Wednesday claimed that she isn't a surrogate for her father, Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump. During Fortune magazine’s Most Powerful Women Summit, Trump—who regularly speaks on her father's behalf, including about his child-care policy—said, “I hate that word, what does that mean?” She continued, “No, I am a daughter. I don't express my views on policy with one exception: as it relates to child care and advocating for women. I never thought I'd have this platform, but it was important for me to participate in that conversation.” At the live interview in Laguna Niguel, California, Trump said she “dismisses” the idea that she's a surrogate because it oversimplifies the role she plays as a daughter. “I am very, very proud of what he's accomplished, and he's been a great dad to me,” she said. “I am not the campaign mastermind that people love to portray.” Trump is executive vice president of the Trump Organization.
