The conservative news site Breitbart coordinated with liberal activist Aaron Black to disrupt the campaign events of Donald Trump's primary opponents, Politico reports. Black, an organizer with the left-leaning Democracy Partners, worked with Breitbart to plan disruptions at Marco Rubio's campaign rallies, sources told Politico.
"He worked directly with Breitbart’s political team on the ground in the primary states to sabotage Marco Rubio & Ted Cruz, and elect Trump as nominee of [the Republican] party,” the source told POLITICO. “[Black] was coordinating with [Breitbart’s] top staff to rabble rouse against Rubio at rallies."
During Rubio's campaign, Breitbart ran footage of Black dressing as a robot and antagonizing the candidate. Black also appears in more recent videos by conservative filmmaker James O'Keefe, in which Black claims to have organized violent protests at a Trump rally in Chicago in March. Trump cited the video during the final presidential debate, holding it as evidence that the Clinton campaign was inciting riots at his rallies.
