Christie: ‘Our Ideas Are Right’

He referenced the Boss, alluded to the Jersey Shore, and wowed the convention floor. New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie blasted the Obama administration’s lack of progress and refusal to cooperate with Republicans in his keynote speech Tuesday at the Republican National Convention. He touted his leadership “in a blue state with a conservative Republican governor” as an example of how to cut taxes, balance the budget, and take on public-sector unions with bipartisan support. He laid out the sharp divide between Democrats and Republicans—“They believe in teachers unions. We believe in teachers.”—but maintained, “Our ideas are right for Americans, and their ideas have failed America.” He concluded by imploring the cheering audience to “stand up for Mitt Romney.”
