The former head of South Carolina’s Republican Party was arrested last week after allegedly killing his mother’s dog, then claiming God told him to do it. NBC News reports that 37-year-old Todd Kincannon “choked, stabbed, and mutilated” his mom’s 10-year-old beagle mix at her South Carolina home. When cops arrived at the home, Kincannon was clad only in underwear and “covered in blood and dog hair.” He reportedly said “that every 1,000 years there needs to be a sacrifice and blood must be spilt.” “I’m the second coming of Christ and I got a command from God to do it,” he allegedly told Simpsonville police officers. After an evaluation at a mental hospital, Kincannon will be charged with animal cruelty. He also has pending charges from 2015 after he allegedly threatened to kill his wife, her family, and himself. Kincannon was executive director and general for the state’s Republican Party in 2009.
