An Occupy Wall Street protester was found guilty Monday of assaulting a police officer after the jury took less than three hours to deliberate. Cecily McMillan, 25, was arrested March 17, 2012, for elbowing Officer Grantley Bovell in the right eye. She said she had reacted instinctively when he allegedly grabbed her breast. She claimed she had been out with friends on St. Patrick’s Day and was meeting up at Zuccotti Park, but not planning to join the protests. McMillan will be sentenced on May 19 for second-degree assault on a police officer, which carries up to seven years in prison.
