Phil Collins Donates Alamo Collection

Apparently Texans aren’t the only ones obsessed with Texas. Phil Collins donated more than 200 artifacts and memorabilia he has collected over the years to the Alamo. Included in that collection is a rifle used by Davy Crockett, the sword belt of William B. Travis (the commander), and a letter from Stephen F. Austin ordering cannons as well as reinforcements. “Some people collect airplane numbers. That, I think, is weird. This isn’t weird. Everybody’s got something that they escape to.” While he did not say how much exactly he has spent on the items, he did admit it was in the millions. His obsession with the Alamo began when he as a child watched a Disney series about Davy Crockett.
