The title “potential people trafficker” just doesn’t have the same ring to it. Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi was named on the U.S. government’s Trafficking in Persons 2011 report. Berlusconi is included in the report because he’s accused of having a sexual relationship with Karima El Mahroug at one of his parties. Mahroug, who is also known as “Ruby the Heart Stealer,” was only 17 at the time. Opposition leaders in Italy have called the news another “shameful insult” for Berlusconi.
