Pentagon: U.S. Strikes Kill Dozens of ISIS Fighters in Yemen

U.S. forces killed dozens of fighters of the so-called Islamic State on Monday in an airstrike on two training camps in Yemen, the Pentagon said. A statement described the camps in Al Bayda governorate as “ungoverned spaces” used to prepare militants for terrorist attacks. No details were given on the exact number of militants killed, but about 50 fighters were thought to be located in the camps, CNN reported. A U.S. official told CNN the strikes were the first by the U.S. military to specifically target ISIS in Yemen, where the U.S. has been coordinating with the Yemeni government and Saudi Arabia to root out al Qaeda fighters for months.
